About Camp Waldo

Camp Waldo is a two-week overnight summer camp at a recently renovated historic children’s camp in Summers County West Virginia. Camp Waldo combines fun and adventure with learning and the arts. Camp Waldo will have all the fun of a traditional summer camp — swimming and canoeing in the Greenbrier River, camping, art, music, hiking, archery, basketball, volleyball, disc golf, soccer and other games. Campers will also enjoy some of our camp’s unique activities, like beekeeping, vegetable gardening, native plant propagation, astronomy, reading and writing stories, ecology, theater and time in our science lab. Our goal is to give kids in our region a fun experience learning, becoming more self-reliant, and playing in nature. We intend to have eighty campers this year (both boys and girls) from ages 10 to 12 and 20 counselors. Camp Waldo is a program of Appalachian Headwaters, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to helping improve communities, forests, and streams in central Appalachia. Learn more at www.campwaldo.org and www.appheadwaters.org.
