WVNA Updates - Governor Justice Executive Order and WVNA COVID-19 resource webpage

Posted about 4 years ago by Julie Huron

Dear WV Nurses,

The WVNA has been working diligently over the last few weeks to ensure WV Nurses are supported during the COVID-19 Pandemic. We have attended and held numerous conference calls, connected nurses to various organizations, advocated for nurses, hosted guest speakers sharing "real-time" information about creative measures that WV hospitals are taking to address the COVID-19 Pandemic.  We welcome you to use our WVNA COVID-19 Pandemic webpage to access relevant nursing information in WV as well as natiowide.

On Monday, March 23, Governor Justice signed an Executive Order which the WVNA advocated for and worked colaboratively with WVANA and WV Affiliate ACNM.  The details are below as well as Executive Order.

  • RNs and APRNs licensed in another state do NOT need a WV license (as long as disciplinary action hasn't been taken and there is none pending).
  • There is no renewal of license -
  • CRNAs can administer anesthesia without supervision.
  • APRNs with prescriptive authority - state statutory limits on prescribing are removed (*Federal DEA requirements remain in place).
