WEEK 4 Community Engagement - You Make a Difference!

Join us for our Final Nurses Month Tuesday night Facebook Live nurses month series Tuesday, May 25th at 7pm. We will be focusing on Community Engagement with three nursing leaders in West Virginia.
- Anitra Ellis, DNP, MSN, FNP-C, RN - WVNA Leader, Southern West Virginia Community and Technical College and Coalfield Health Center
- Kristin Dial, Coalfield Health Center
- Angie Settle, DNP, APRN, BC, FNP - West Virginia Health Right, Inc.

Anitra Ellis, DNP, MSN, FNP-C, RN
Dr. Ellis is an Assistant Professor of Nursing at Southern West Virginia Community and Technical College. She is also a Family Nurse Practitioner at Coalfield Health Center in Logan, WV. Anitra serves in WVNA Leadership as the Membership Chair, she is a Legislative Leader for Senate District 7 and she is the newly elected Treasurer of the WVN-PAC.
Dr. Ellis is known for her flipped classroom learning hit song “COPD-I can’t breathe” which had over 30,000 views on Facebook. In a prior teaching appointment, she led a team of nursing students in a campus wide Mock Disaster Drill. The Mock Disaster helped to foster interdisciplinary collaboration within different healthcare disciplines.
Her areas of expertise include critical care nursing, family practice and she has previously practiced as a hospitalist. During the summer of 2018 she provided medical care in Ghana through Helping Hands Medical Mission. She is also active in youth sports in Logan County.
Her future plans include owning her own practice, and continuing to teach nursing education in Southern West Virginia.

Kristin Dial, Executive Director - Coalfield Health Center
Kristin Dial is the Executive Director of a Federally Qualified Health Center Look-alike in Southern West Virginia. Mrs. Dial is a 2002 graduate of Marshall University with a Bachelor of Science, 2005 graduate of Southern West Virginia Community and Technical College with an Associate of Nursing degree, and a 2007 graduate of Marshall University with a Master’s in Health Care Administration. Mrs. Dial is an active board member of the West Virginia Rural Health Association, West Virginia Primary Care Association, the Logan County Chamber of Commerce, Partner’s in Health, and the Logan Healthcare Foundation. Coalfield Health Center received the 2020 WVRHA Excellence in Rural Health Award and the 2021 Outstanding Rural Health Organization Award from the National Rural Health Association. Mrs. Dial is a founding member of the Wild Wonderful and Healthy Logan County initiative which is a collaborative of Logan County entities implementing a community health plan to create a healthy workforce and increase economic development in their rural community.

Angie Settle, DNP, APRN, BC, FNP CEO - West Virginia Health Right, Inc.
Angie is the CEO of WV Health Right, the state’s oldest and largest free & charitable clinic serving 39,000 low-income uninsured or underinsured (Medicaid/Medicare) adults annually.
They provide medical, dental, pharmaceutical, behavioral health, vision and substance use disorder care, as well as, a robust health education program with a teaching kitchen, a mobile dental clinic and 2 satellite clinics (Covenant House & West Side). All services are provided totally free of charge to patients. She is currently studying Nonprofit Leadership at Harvard’s Kennedy School. She is the 2018 recipient of the Robert Wood Johnson Health Equity award from the National Association of Free & Charitable Clinics. She and her husband have been married nearly 32 years and are the parents of 8 children age 22 to 2 years.
