Support SB 482 – Help Expand Maternity Care in WV!

WVNA stands behind Senate Bill 482, which will be heard in the House Government Organization Committee tomorrow, March 28, 2025. This bill would license nationally credentialed Certified Professional Midwives in West Virginia—bringing us in line with 38 other states where these skilled professionals already provide safe, comprehensive maternity care.

West Virginia urgently needs more maternity care providers to combat our growing maternity care deserts. Contact your Delegates  on the House Gov. Org. Committee today and urge them to vote YES on SB 482! Every voice matters.

RE: Please Vote YES on SB 482 to license Certified Professional Midwives in WV

Dear Honorable Delegate [Insert Name],

As a [Insert Profession/Title] and a [Your Constituent/Resident of West Virginia/Maternity Care Consumer], I urge you to vote YES on Senate Bill 482 to license Certified Professional Midwives in West Virginia.

Our state continues to rank among the worst for maternal and infant mortality. Licensing qualified, nationally credentialed midwives—just as 38 other states have done— SB 482 will expand access to safe, community-based maternity care for West Virginia families.

SB 482 has strong support from the West Virginia affiliate of the American College of Nurse-Midwives and the Midwives Alliance of West Virginia. More midwives mean better care, healthier families, and stronger communities.

Please support this critical step forward.

Sincerely,
